Two ways in
There are two ways to reach the valley. The easiest is the regular boat service from Oludeniz; the sea trip is scenic and lands you right on the beach. The second is the steep footpath down from the clifftop village of Faralya.
- By boat: Daily services from Oludeniz — the most comfortable and popular option.
- By the Faralya trail: A descent from the mountain side — steep, slippery and best for the experienced; sturdy footwear is essential.
Reaching Faralya by road
Faralya village is about 70 km from Dalaman Airport, with the final stretch on mountain roads. Its boutique hotels and guesthouses suit travellers seeking a quieter, crowd-free stay. Direct public transport to Faralya is impractical, so a private transfer is the most reliable option for this remote spot.
What's in the valley
At the valley floor there is a small pebble beach, a handful of simple cafés and shaded spots; you can swim here and walk a short distance to the waterfall. Accommodation infrastructure is limited, so most visitors come for the day. A section of the Lycian Way runs through the valley up to Faralya, and experienced hikers sometimes use it as part of a longer route. As the valley is a protected nature area, there is an entrance fee, and access can occasionally close, particularly in winter when flash flooding is a risk.
Best time and tips
The best chance to see the butterflies is generally June to September. Going early to avoid the midday heat makes both the walk and the swim more comfortable. Bring water, sun protection and, if using the trail, non-slip shoes; as the valley is protected, take your rubbish back with you.
